Image Evaluation & Feedback

Evaluating someone else’s image can be a daunting task. You don’t want to hurt the
maker’s feelings, but at the same time, you want to tell them about the things that you
believe would make for a stronger image.

And what about evaluating your own images? That too can also be a difficult task as we
all find it hard to be objective about something we have put a lot of time and effort into
producing.

Ideally, feedback should be a collaborative process between the maker and the person
evaluating the image – think of it as a conversation. Tonight’s interactive presentation
will give you guidelines for consistent evaluation of photographic images (whether yours
or someone else’s) and offer strategies for providing positive and effective feedback.

And don’t worry, there will be an opportunity to practice these skills during the evening.

Many of you may already know Bill as he has judged some of our club competitions.  Bill is a local photographer who has judged local, regional, national and international photo competitions of prints, projected images and audio-video shows. He has been a CAPA certified judge since 2011 and is the CAPA District Representative for Southwestern Ontario.
