HGCC 2026-2027 Season Summary

Meetings

Meetings are usually the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, starting with the third Monday in September and going until the end of May. The club traditionally holds social events in December and June.  For 2026-2027, all meetings will be in person with the option to join in online via Teams unless otherwise posted.

The following is a summary of the 2026-2027 program. Please check the Event Calendar for full details regarding the event, location, and time.

September 2026 Theme: Pet Photography
Sept 21 –Welcome Back; Image Share (up to 3 images each): Summer colour assignment or Photographer’s Choice
  * Submit images for share by Sept 20th or bring to the meeting

October 2026 Theme: Monochrome
Oct 05 – Influential photographer (Brant about Harlod Edgerton) and video presentation “The Heart of the Photograph” by David DuChemin.
Oct 19 – Guest Presenter In-Person: Jeff Stephenson – “Aviation photography”.

 November 2026 Theme: Subjects in Motion
Nov 02 – Image critique/discussion  –  How to improve your images. There will be an introduction on how to positively critique images with examples. Please submit up to 3 images that can be discussed in the group. They do not have to be perfect images!!
Nov 16 – Guest Presenter In-Person: David MacCammon – “Grow your skills and vision through personal projects”. He will be showing some of his printed photographs and will present in person.

December 2026 Theme: Indoor or Outdoor Night Life
Dec 07 – HGCC Member Presenter In-Person:  Jennifer Leat “Iceland – Land of water, fire and ice”.

Dec 21 – No meeting tonight because of proximity to Christmas.

January 2027 Theme: Landscape Photography
Jan 04 – HGCC Member Presenter In-Person:  Bill Hall – “Beginner’s Guide to Landscape Photography”. Bill will present in person.
Jan 18 –Dan Gillespie Audio Visual (AV) Show Night and influential photographer Diane Bos presented by Jane.

 February 2027 Theme: Colour
Feb 01 – Guest Presenter In-Person: Dave Conlon “Exploring Abandoned Places and Ghost Towns with Dave Conlon of Freaktography”.

 Feb 15 – no meeting (Family Day Holiday)

 March 2027 Theme: Canada My Country
Mar 01 – Guest Presenter via Teams: Martin Ross – “Impact in Nature Photography – Demystifying the Wow Factor in Nature Photography”.

Mar 15 – Influential photographer (Edward Burtynsky) and Member share based on Themes from Jan to March. We encourage you to use these themes to stimulate some ideas, but you do not have to be limited to these themes.

April 2027 Theme: Nature Photography
April 05 – Fergus competition – HG is hosting.
April 19 –  “Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and multiple exposure”. This will be a presentation followed by a workshop.  Details to follow.

May 2027 Theme: Architecture
May 03 – “AI – A risk to photography?” Brant/Jennifer. Discussion. Details to follow.
May 17 –AGM and Image Share (up to 6 travel images each):  Travel Inspiration Evening (in honour of Nora)

June 2027

June 01 – Year-end social.

New Season Fast Approaching

Hello Club members! 

We hope you have had a wonderful summer and have had the opportunity to get out and shoot. Don’t forget to get some photos within your assigned colour palette (you remember – the one you picked out of the hat at our last club meeting – I am sure you have all been diligently and creatively finding images) to share at our first meeting…there is still time.

The Highland Glen Executive Board met last week and we are pleased to announce that we not only have a new computer, but we also have volunteers who have stepped forward to help with the website and other tech issues. We have also decided to switch from Zoom to Teams for remote attendance, special speakers and Board meetings. It is a straightforward process to use Teams.  As with anything new, there will be a small learning curve, but we will all learn together.  On the plus side, this will help keep our costs down – the savings are quite substantial switching to Teams.

The Board has also approved the programme developed and put forth for 2026/27. It looks to be diverse and interesting. This year we will also be entering some CAPA competitions, as well as hosting the annual Highland Glen/Fergus friendly club competition. So, it will be a busy, but interesting year and we encourage you to stay tuned to the website for updates and information and we look forward to seeing you at our first club meeting for the coming year on September 21st.

Looking forward to seeing you again Sept. 21, 2026

What a great photo club season we enjoyed with many wonderful memories and unforgettable images.  There were some challenges, but overall it was an amazing photo club year.

The board and executive is busy working on next season.  Some great speakers will be joining us, plus lots of opportunities to share and learn from each other.  Details will be added throughout the summer to the webpage.

Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you for our first meeting of the new seasons Sept. 21, 2026.
