The Stag and Swan

The Stag and Swan competition started in 1998 and was held annually each spring as an inter-club competition with the Stratford Camera Club until our final competition in 2018.  Unfortunately, after 55 years, the Stratford Camera Club closed its doors in May 2018.

The Stratford Camera Club, in Stratford, Ontario was first established in 1900 and since then the club has folded and restarted twice, first in 1939 and most recently in 1963.  Since the club has a history of resurfacing, the Stag and Swan may live to see another day.

Highland Glen (the stag) and Stratford (the swan) alternate hosting duties for the competition.  Judging is performed by a set of three independent judges, organized by the host club. The winner of the competition is the club with the highest cumulative score.

Each club enters 30 digital images.  This is an open category competition, so any subject, processing technique, etc. is accepted.

The competition is intended to be a showcase of the achievements of the club as a whole and not just a few members. HGCC members can submit up to three images for consideration. The club decides on the images to be submitted and strives to have at least one image from every submitter.
