DESCRIPTION:Colour is everywhere. See what vibrant and impactful images you can create making the best use of colour. Feel free to accentuate and even play with changed color during editing. \nAs a prelude to CAPA’s Colour Inspiration Competition you might want to start thinking of colour images that fit into one of the following themes: \n\nStill Life – images are skillfully-crafted arrangement(s) of vibrant objects and textures. Experimenting with lighting\, angles\, background and props may contribute to a unique fine art interpretation. The possibilities are endless – the beauty of flowers\, the allure of food\, nostalgia of toys\, the wisdom within books\, elegance of fabric\, the charm of collectibles\, craftsman’s hand tools\, and natural materials.\n\n\nDramatic Contrast & Shadows – images in this theme leverages the power of dramatic contrast and shadows. Sources of inspiration – low-key\, silhouette\, and selective lighting effects to create bold graphic image. Everyday spaces reveal geometric shadows cast by individuals\, buildings\, signs and structures.\n\n\nAction & Motion – image in this theme should convey excitement\, speed\, and movement through colour. Image can be a result of panning effects\, slow shutter speeds and freezing fast action. Source of inspiration is boundless – whether it’s animals\, birds\, dance\, long-exposure shots\, sports\, traffic\, vehicles\, or any other dynamic subject.\n\n\nNature’s Beauty – images capturing inspiring landscapes\, mesmerizing plants\, enchanting animals\, and captivating natural phenomena. Domesticated animals\, birds and drone images are welcome additions to this theme\, allowing for a broad spectrum of natural wonders. All hand-of-man elements are permissible in this theme.\n\n\nTravel – image that transcends the typical postcard and provides a fresh and creative perspective. DESCRIPTION:Our Guest speaker is photographer Luba Citrin. \n   \nHer presentation via Zoom is entitled “Still\, … but not so Still Life”. She will share her approach to creating still life images that are different from traditional still life in art or photography.  ZOOM ONLY – no meeting at Coldwell Banker. \nLuba was a Computer specialist by profession. She took early retirement in 2010\, and bought her first digital camera to take on her canoe\, camping and travel journeys.  Since then\, photography has become a passion\, an obsession\, and a means to express herself through images.  \nShe enjoys all aspects of photography – nature\, landscape\, still life and fine art\, and has fun creating altered-reality images that have won many awards. \nShe is a member of Richmond Hill Camera Club and Toronto Digital Camera Club\, as well as an accredited judge with the  Ontario Council of Camera Clubs. \nIn her presentation she will show her workflow starting with idea\, set up and execution. She will take you behind the scenes and show how much fun it could be in producing still life images that are different with the hope to motivate you not only creating still life images\, but in any genre of photography you do. \nTo see some of her work go to Luba Citrin Photography

SUMMARY:Dan Gillespie AV Show Night
DESCRIPTION:An evening in honour of Dan Gillespie. \nDan loved how AV shows brought members together. Help us continue this tradition and remember Dan by submitting an AV show to share. \nSubmit one AV show (in an .mp4 format) that is a maximum of 5 minutes long.  Since an audio visual show takes a bit more work to make\, you can share a collection of images that would be shown as a slide show by the moderator. \nBring your audio-visual show on a USB stick.  Come early to load it on the club’s computer for presentation.  If participating via Zoom\, use one of the following procedures to submit your AV show (preferably by Jan 18th): \n\nIf you have your own file sharing system (Dropbox\, Google Drive\, etc)\, you can send the download link to submissions@highlandglen.ca and the moderator can collect the file.\nIf you want to send in a show\, send an email to submissions@highlandglen.ca and the moderator will send you a file request through Dropbox. The file request will provide a link for uploading the file.\n\n  \n
