DESCRIPTION:September’s Theme is Nature/Wildlife as a prelude to CAPA’s Nature/Wildlife Competition .\n \nFor competition purposes\, your image must fit into one of the following themes: \n\nBotanical – wild plants photographed in their natural environment\nInsects\, Reptiles & Amphibians – such as: alligators\, ants\, bees\, beetles\, butterflies\, crickets\, crocodiles\, dragonflies\, frogs\, gecko\, hornets\, iguana\, lizard\, mantis\, mosquitoes\, snakes\, turtles\, wasps\, etc…\nLandscape – subjects such as weather phenomena\, geological formations\, landscapes\, seascapes and natural phenomena\, planets\, stars and astronomical events.\nNature – subjects such as living animals\, birds and marine subjects – under the control and feeding of humans if not obvious – such as zoos\, game farms\, animal preserves\, aquarium\, etc…\nWildlife – only living and untamed wildlife mammals\, birds and marine subjects.\n\nNOTE: This competition has restricted subject and editing conditions.  Typically\, hand-of-man is not allowed or restricted. Be prepared to tell us about your image.  \nFor digital images\, please use the image standards that we use for digital competitions as these work best with our projector. \nYou can bring your images on a USB stick. Come early to load it on the club’s computer for presentation.  Alternatively\, email all images to submissions@highlandglen.ca preferably by dinner time on Saturday September 14th  but no later than dinner time on Sunday September 15th.  \nIf you are submitting images from a phone\, we have directions on how to resize your image for an iOS phone [pdf].   For those using an Android phone\, directions would be similar; you could use the 3rd party app Photo & Picture Resizer.

SUMMARY:Outing:  Mike Schout Wetlands
DESCRIPTION:Date:  September 22\, 2024 \nTime:  9 AM \nLocation:  28 Smith’s Creek Drive\, New Hamburg\, ON \nMeeting Place:  Parking lot.   It is a bit odd\, but the road into the parking lot is between two houses – there are signs. There is plenty of parking. \nIf the weather is too bad to be out\, the alternate weather date is September 29. \nA 1.6 km long raised boardwalk spanning multiple wetland ponds.  Over 20 acres of pollinator meadows.  Birdhouses\, turtle nesting areas\, Nith river\, to name just a few attractions.  This is a great location for a long telephoto lens or wide angle to capture the vast landscape and winding boardwalk. \n \n  \n
