Image can be taken from inside or outside the structure. Includes urban and rural settings.\nDilapidated – abandoned aircraft\, boats\, buildings\, ships\, structures\, trains and vehicles. \nLandscape – weather phenomena\, geological formations\, landscapes\, seascapes and natural phenomena such as planets\, stars and astronomical events.\nPerson(s) – traditional or casual portraits\, and could incorporate the workspace and/or environment.

SUMMARY:Guest Speaker: Philip Maher - Emergency Traveler: Photography for a broken world
DESCRIPTION:Through his own images\, Mr. Maher will share his experiences and photography advice\, having worked in some of the harshest environments.  Above all\, he wants his images to help those forced to struggle on the margins of society.  Surprisingly he notes that his strongest gift is not as a photographer but as a person with a passion for making a difference. \nPhilip Maher has worked as a photojournalist and communications/media specialist for a variety of aid organizations in more than 85 countries. He has documented virtually kind of crisis: humanitarian suffering in refugee camps\, and people suffering because of tsunamis\, earthquakes\, cyclones\, Chernobyl meltdown\, civil strife and famine in North Korea.  He lives in Guelph and writes a monthly column for GuelphToday.com under Mercy Traveler . \nGuests are welcome for this talk\, please complete the Guest Registration Form .  We will be in contact.  The guest fee is $10. \nWaiting for Food – Philip Maher \nSudan – Philip Maher

DESCRIPTION:This year we will be participating in five CAPA (Canadian Association of Photographic Art) Competitions as a club.  For the first competition this fall\, the Board has selected the Nature Theme competition.  The club will select six images\, which must be from different photographers\, to represent the club. \n\n\nSubmit one digital image for consideration in the CAPA Nature Competition. \nSee CAPA Competitions under the Competitions menu tab for a brief description of the image themes\, image standards\, and file naming conventions. \nSubmit images using this online form. DESCRIPTION:What CAPA Judges Look For in Your Photography\nJane van Pelt will be discussing what competition judges look for when evaluating images. \nImage Share:\nBring or submit up to 4 digital images or prints to share in tonight’s share session. Be prepared to tell us about your image.  \nFor digital images\, please use the image standards that we use for digital competitions as these work best with our projector. \nYou can bring your images on a USB stick. Come early to load it on the club’s computer for presentation.  Alternatively\, email all images to submissions@highlandglen.ca preferably by dinner time on Saturday September 14th  but no later than dinner time on Sunday September 15th.  \nIf you are submitting images from a phone\, we have directions on how to resize your image for an iOS phone [pdf].   For those using an Android phone\, directions would be similar; you could use the 3rd party app Photo & Picture Resizer.
