DESCRIPTION:Bruce is a Librarian by profession starting his career at the National Science Library in Ottawa and then worked in academic libraries for the next 27 years. From 1996 to the present\, he has served in various capacities on the Board of the Kitchener Horticultural Society and as a member of the Kitchener Master Gardeners. In addition to the interest in Horticulture\, he has developed an interest in nature and photography which has taken him into green spaces in and around the Waterloo Region. He will talk about the amazing natural resources we have around us in our communities.

DESCRIPTION:The opening for Jack MacAulay’s show\, Neiges or Canadian Winter Photographs\, will be on Saturday December 2nd in the Odeon Gallery (downstairs) at the Princess Twin Cinema. \nShow runs from December 1st to December 31st. \nJack\, a member of the Kitchener Society of Artists\, uses  8″ x 10″ and 4″ x 5″ view cameras for his black and white landscape photography. His photographs are taken in all seasons\, but he has a special interest in winter photography.

SUMMARY:Canadian Raptor Conservancy
DESCRIPTION:Ben Eby is arranging visits to both the Mountsberg Raptor Centre (morning) and the Canadian Raptor Conservancy (afternoon) on October 1st. \nAt the Canadian Raptor Conservancy\, you have the opportunity to capture various Ontario birds of prey in flight as well as in portrait.  The birds are trained to fly point to point on a flight of about 5 seconds duration. \nThose of you who attended the previous workshop will know that you simply can’t get a better opportunity practice taking pictures of birds in flight.  In our previous visit we photographed a great horned owl\, Siberian eagle owl\, Turkumenian eagle owl\, barn owl\, bald eagle\, snowy owl\, Harris hawk\, golden eagle\, peregrine falcon. \nHopefully the October 1st date will allow for some splendid fall colours. \nAttendance is limited. DESCRIPTION:The first part of our first meeting this year will be membership renewals and a review of our program for the 2017-2018 year. \nFor the second part\, it would be nice to see what everyone did for the summer. Hopefully\, this will have included taking pictures. You could create a short slide show presentation or submit a few photos that could be added to other entries to make a slide show. \nIf you are going to do a slide show\, there are a number of programs to do it. ProShow Gold or a free program such as http://www.smilebox.com/;  Lightroom is another way to create a show. If you Google ‘slideshow’\, a number of programs will come up. You may have a favorite that you use. Please let us know so that we can share with other members. \nHope you had a great summer!!
