SUMMARY:Member Image Share & Critique Night
DESCRIPTION:Influential Photographer Spotlight: Annie Leibovitz\n“I’ve said about a million times that the best thing a young photographer can do is to stay close to home. Start with your friends and family\, the people who will put up with you. Discover what it means to be close to your work\, to be intimate with a subject. Measure the difference between that and working with someone you don’t know as much about. Of course there are many good photographs that have nothing to do with staying close to home\, and I guess what I’m really saying is that you should take pictures of something that has meaning for you…” – Annie Leibovitz \nPhoto Critique:\nMembers submit up to 2 images for critique. There will be a panel of members and/or guest to review images and provide constructive critique. \nImage share:\nShow up to 4 images from your Family theme images\, Low Angle/High Angle theme images or photographer’s choice images. \nSubmission of images:\nOur regular image standards apply.  \n\nSubmit up to 2 images you would like critiqued. \n\nSubmit up to 4 images you would like to share. \n\nEmail all images to submissions@highlandglen.ca preferably by dinner time on Sunday Feb 6th but no later than 9am Monday Feb 7th.\nPlease indicate which images are for the critique vs the share.\n\n\nIf you are submitting images from a phone\, we have directions on how to resize your image for an iOS phone [pdf].   For those using an Android phone\, directions would be similar; you could use the 3rd party app Photo & Picture Resizer.

SUMMARY:Dan Gillespie AV Show Night
DESCRIPTION:An evening in honour of Dan Gillespie. \nDan loved how AV shows brought members together. Help us continue this tradition and remember Dan by submitting an AV show to share. \nSubmit one AV show (in an .mp4 format) that is a maximum of 5 minutes long.   \nTo submit an AV show\, use one of the following procedures: \n\nIf you have your own file sharing system (Dropbox\, Google Drive\, etc)\, you can send the download link to submissions@highlandglen.ca and the moderator can collect the file.\nIf you want to send in a show\, send an email to submissions@highlandglen.ca and the moderator will send you a file request through Dropbox. The file request will provide a link for uploading the file.\nIf you want to run the show on your own computer\, you could share your screen. Please email submissions@highlandglen.ca and let them know you will be doing this.\nSince slide shows take a bit more work to make\, you can share a collection of images that would be shown as a slide show by the moderator.  Use procedures 1 or 2 to get the images to the moderator.\n\nNOTE: Unless you will be presenting your show from your own computer (procedure 3)\, please submit your AV show or images a few days in advance.

SUMMARY:Member Image Share & Critique Night
DESCRIPTION:Influential Photographer Spotlight: NASA – Hubble Telescope\n“… Which brings me to the Hubble Space Telescope’s newest images. If it’s wonder that you’re looking for\, and mystery\, don’t just scan the photographs. Stop and think about them. Try to imagine the scale. The Earth is just a speck of dust on one distant whirling tentacle of the Milky Way galaxy\, which contains billions of stars. A ‘collision’ of galaxies seems unimaginably large – and yet it is something scientists long ago imagined… The imaginings of pseudoscience are feeble by comparison.” – Mark Bowden \nPhoto Critique:\nMembers submit up to 2 images for critique. There will be a panel of members and/or guest to review images and provide constructive critique. \nImage share:\nShow up to 2 Monochrome theme images or photographer’s choice images. \nSubmission of images:\nOur regular image standards apply.  \n\n Submit up to two images you would like critiqued. \n\n Submit up to two images you would like to share. \n\nEmail all images to submissions@highlandglen.ca preferably by dinner time on Sunday Oct 31st to give the moderators time to organize the images but no later than 9am Monday Nov 1st.\nPlease indicate which images are for the critique vs the share.\n\n\nIf you are submitting images from a phone\, we have directions on how to resize your image for an iOS phone [pdf].   For those using an Android phone\, directions would be similar; you could use the 3rd party app Photo & Picture Resizer.
