SUMMARY:Unique Creations Night (CANCELLED)
DESCRIPTION:We will provide the same fourteen images (7 portrait and 7 landscape orientation) to everyone (provided ahead of time).  Use one or more images to create something unique.  Challenge yourself to try an editing technique you have never done before and be prepared to explain what you did. \nEven though everyone will be starting with the exact same images\, the objective is to see what you can come up with and to see how different the result can be.  Hopefully members can use what they learn from Jason’s talk and from Carol’s talk on the development module. \nMembers will be at different editing experience levels. You can work with either one image on its own or combine images using composite techniques or blending techniques to create a unique image from multiple images.  It will be up to you to push yourself as much as you want with this one. \nSubmission of images:\nOur regular image standards apply. \n\n Submit your images online by 9 am Monday 16th (remember to login first)      SUBMIT IMAGE HERE\n or bring your digital images on a USB stick and leave them with Tina at the podium.\n If bringing prints\, let Tina know that you have prints.\n\n\nIf you are submitting images from a phone\, we have directions on how to resize your image for an iOS phone [pdf].   For those using an Android phone\, directions would be similar; you could use the 3rd party app Photo & Picture Resizer.

DESCRIPTION:Manipulating Photography\nJason uses photography to capture moments and tell accurate stories …  But it’s the manipulation of the image and the twisting of reality that really captures his interest.  In his presentation\, Jason will talk about his work as both an Educator and Photographer and will discuss how and why he might modify a photo using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.  Altering\, manipulating and Frankensteining an image might be sometimes seen as controversial\, but Jason isn’t afraid to bend what we see in order to create something new and manipulate what we expect. \n  \nJason Panda is a Graphic Artist and Art Educator living\, creating and learning in the Waterloo Region. Whenever possible\, he strives to create authentic learning opportunities that connect art to existing community and community initiatives. As an Artist\, he uses a medley of traditional & digital media including illustration\, sculpture\, photography and digital painting. SUMMARY:Canadian Raptor Conservancy - Winter Visit
DESCRIPTION:At the Canadian Raptor Conservancy\, you have the opportunity to capture various birds of prey in flight as well as in portrait.  The birds are trained to fly point to point on a flight of about 5 seconds duration. \nThose of you who attended one of the previous workshops will know that you simply can’t get a better opportunity practice taking pictures of birds in flight.  In one of our previous visits\, we photographed a great horned owl\, Siberian eagle owl\, Turkumenian eagle owl\, barn owl\, bald eagle\, snowy owl\, Harris hawk\, golden eagle\, peregrine falcon.  Every visit is different.  Birds vary by season and by visit. \nAs attendance is limited\, you must book in advance.  Arrive at 8:45am.  Cost $75. \nFor booking\, email Mark at outings@highlandglen.ca .
