DESCRIPTION:The Grand Valley Image Battle (GVIB) competition is held every fall as an inter-club competition with other clubs in South-Western Ontario. \nWe are hosting the GVIB this year at our regular meeting location in the theatre in the basement of \nColdwell Banker – Peter Benninger Realty\n 508 Riverbend Drive\nKitchener\, Ontario\nN2K 3S2   \n+ Google Map \n \nThere is free parking and the building has an elevator and is wheelchair accessible.  The main entrance has stairs at the front and left sides; however\, there is a ramp on the right side. DESCRIPTION:Wildlife and More\nBea Binka is a photographer from Kitchener.  Bea started her photography journey while studying Advertising and Graphic Design. After completing college\, she became the manager of a photo studio which she then left  to start her own Video Production company. Some of her work has been featured on various channels and television shows. After 18 years in the business\, she hung up her video cameras. It didn’t take long before Bea picked up a camera again; this time a DSLR and started shooting high-school sports.  From sports\, Bea started shooting Macro\, then landscapes with an emphasis of waterfalls\, to nature. She still continues to learn and try new genres. Her goal is to create Fine Art from anyplace with any lens and any subject. Bea has always been passionate and obsessed with animals\, so wildlife and bird photography became her main interest and focus. And that is what she is  known for today. \nShe has shared her passion with people close to her by doing some one-on-one teaching and arranged outings for herself and friends over the years. SUMMARY:Canadian Raptor Conservancy - Fall visit
DESCRIPTION:At the Canadian Raptor Conservancy\, you have the opportunity to capture various Ontario birds of prey in flight as well as in portrait.  The birds are trained to fly point to point on a flight of about 5 seconds duration. \nThose of you who attended one of the previous workshops will know that you simply can’t get a better opportunity practice taking pictures of birds in flight.  In one of our previous visits\, we photographed a great horned owl\, Siberian eagle owl\, Turkumenian eagle owl\, barn owl\, bald eagle\, snowy owl\, Harris hawk\, golden eagle\, peregrine falcon.  Every visit is different.  Birds vary by season and by visit. \nThe October date will allow for some splendid fall colours in the fields as the golden rod and purple asters are in bloom now. \nAs attendance is limited\, you must book in advance.  Arrive at 8:45am.  Cost $75. \nFor booking\, email Mark at outings@highlandglen.ca .

DESCRIPTION:Welcome back to a new year of photography challenges! \nBefore you come to the meeting: \n\nWe are using an online membership form to allow us to collect member data quickly and accurately.  Please fill in the form before coming to the meeting.\nPlease bring cash or a cheque made out to Highland Glen Camera Club for the appropriate amount.\n\nWhen you come to the meeting: \n\nSign your liability and waiver form at the side table.\nPay your club dues at the side table.\nLeave your USB stick containing your summer images and scavenger hunt images with Tina at the podium.\n\nSharing images: \nIt would be nice to see what everyone did during the summer.  Hopefully\, this will have included taking pictures that you would be willing to share with the club. Did you go somewhere interesting or did you see the familiar with new eyes?  Did you try out some new techniques?  You could create a short slide show presentation or submit a few digital images that we can display. \nWe are also running a photographic scavenger hunt this summer. Your scavenger hunt images can be submitted as a slide show presentation or as a set of digital images.  The scavenger hunt images should be separate from the summer images. \nBring your images on a USB stick. \n\nIf you are going to do a slide show\, there are a number of programs to do it. DESCRIPTION:The Joy of Photography\nThe presentation covers “aerial photography of the Waterloo region” taken from Tom’s ultralight aircraft\, some “wildlife and nature photography” from around the world and lots of fun with the making of his published children’s book “The Chipmunk Fall Fair”.  The book utilizes advanced photographic techniques and has been featured in The Record\, CTV and Canada AM. DESCRIPTION:Twin Cities: artistic documentation of the urban landscape\n\nTwin Cities is an ongoing long-term view of dramatic changes to Kitchener-Waterloo’s built landscape as industry departs the inner core and century homes also fall under the wrecking ball\, and high-tech workers’ condominiums replace them. \nStefan A. Rose uses an ultra-large-format 8- x 20-inch panoramic view camera because the large film’s extreme detail and smooth tonal gradations offer a sensuous expansive visual experience. \nRose will discuss the techniques\, motivations\, and considerations of his black-and-white photographic work\, informed by his interest in vernacular architecture\, constructed identity\, and the shaping of rural and urban environments.
