SUMMARY:Hands-on Night: Bokeh
DESCRIPTION:Influential Photographer:  Roberta Bondar\n“My hypothesis is that if you fall in love with something you’ll embrace it as part of your heritage.  I think that if people are committing to actually taking a picture and seeing what they photograph\, it really makes them look — and that’s when people have respect. That’s when people honour and people maintain.” — Roberta Bondar \nHands-on Night: Capturing beautiful Bokeh for sparkling images\nTina will quickly review how to capture Bokeh before you get your camera out to play with twinkle lights. \nThere will be stations available for in-person – I have 8 sets of LED mini lights that are battery run – and I will bring some subjects.  If you prefer to follow along at home\, that is okay too\, but you will have to supply your own lights and subject (string of Christmas lights\, or mini-LED lights work great). \nFor in-person\, feel free to bring in some small subjects to work with and/or your own battery powered lights if you have them. \nTo capture dreamy bokeh you need to work with the widest aperture you can get – if you have a lens that can do f/4\, f/2.8\, f/1.8\, f/1.2 that would be the lens to use.  Standard or telephoto – but not a wide angle lens works best. \nUnleash your creativity\, and have fun! \nBring your camera and tripod.

SUMMARY:Guest Speaker: Bill Hall
DESCRIPTION:Image Evaluation & Feedback\nEvaluating someone else’s image can be a daunting task. You don’t want to hurt the\nmaker’s feelings\, but at the same time\, you want to tell them about the things that you\nbelieve would make for a stronger image. \nAnd what about evaluating your own images? That too can also be a difficult task as we\nall find it hard to be objective about something we have put a lot of time and effort into\nproducing. \nIdeally\, feedback should be a collaborative process between the maker and the person\nevaluating the image – think of it as a conversation. Tonight’s interactive presentation\nwill give you guidelines for consistent evaluation of photographic images (whether yours\nor someone else’s) and offer strategies for providing positive and effective feedback. \nAnd don’t worry\, there will be an opportunity to practice these skills during the evening. \nMany of you may already know Bill as he has judged some of our club competitions.  Bill is a local photographer who has judged local\, regional\, national and international photo competitions of prints\, projected images and audio-video shows. He has been a CAPA certified judge since 2011 and is the CAPA District Representative for Southwestern Ontario. \nGuests are welcome for this talk\, please complete the Guest Registration Form .  We will be in contact.  The guest fee is $10. \n** NOTE:  Meeting will be via Zoom due to projector issues. **

SUMMARY:Place to Revisit and Image Share
DESCRIPTION:Influential Photographer Spotlight: Louis-Jacques Mande Daguerre\n“I have seized the light. I have arrested its flight.” – Louis Daguerre\n \nPlaces to Revisit:\nWe thought it would be nice for everyone to share a few images from locations you can’t wait to get back to.  With travel starting to be on our minds again\, and the pandemic situation improved in Canada\, some of us will start going farther afield.  Please share up to 4 images and be ready to let us all know where it was taken and why you can’t wait to go back.  It is always fun to see and hear about other photographer experiences\, and you never know\, you might see and learn about somewhere new you never thought of visiting.  Location could be exotic or a local hidden gem or a place that you revisit frequently. \nImage share:\nShare up to 2 of your Window(s) theme images or photographer’s choice images. \nSubmit images to submissions@highlandglen.ca preferably by dinner time on Sunday April 3rd to give the moderators time to organize the images but by noon April 4th at latest.
