DESCRIPTION:Black and White Photography\n\nDirect from Katoomba\, Australia\, via Zoom\, our guest speaker will be Peter Hill\, an award winning black and white photographer.  Although many of his awards are in landscape and nature\, he shoots in a wide range of genres including abstracts\, street\, architecture\, portraits\, etc.\n \nPeter’s presentation will focus on aspects of black and white photography that are different from colour photography whilst you are shooting\, i.e. getting it right in-camera. DESCRIPTION:This year we will be participating in four or five CAPA (Canadian Association of Photographic Art) Competitions as a club.  For the second competition in the winter\, the Board has selected the Monochrome competition.  The club will select six images\, which must be from different photographers\, to represent the club. \nSubmit one digital image for consideration in the CAPA Open Competition. \nSee the description of the CAPA Competitions under Competitions for the image themes\, image standards\, and file naming conventions.  Note: the monochrome themes this year are different from last year’s themes. \nSubmit images online at  SUBMIT HERE.

DESCRIPTION:Influential Photographer Spotlight: Gordon Parks\n“I suffered first as a child from discrimination\, poverty … So I think it was a natural follow from that\, that I should use my camera to speak for people who are unable to speak for themselves.” — Gordon Parks \nHow to:  Water Drop Collisions\nAndre Secours will do a short talk on how to generate and photograph water drop collisions. \nQ&A Night\nMembers submit questions/images ahead of time. Broad range of topics acceptable\, anywhere from editing\, camera\, techniques\, how to improve an image etc. This is your chance to ask questions you have always wanted to ask about photography. There will be a panel of members and/or guest to answer questions. \nSubmit questions/images for Q&A by January 29th to submissions@highlandglen.ca . \nImage Share\nShow your Monochrome images or photographer’s choice. \nSubmit up to two images to share to submissions@highlandglen.ca\, preferably by dinner time Sunday January 31st but no later than 9am Monday February 1st .
